THE BLESSEDNESS OF – “BEING LED OF THE SPIRIT”: THE ENABLING POWER OF GOD TO ACCESS AND FULFILL PURPOSE IN CHRIST JESUS!
“. . . 14 For as many as are LED by the Spirit of God, they are the SONS of God . . .” Romans 8:9-11, 14-17.
“Then was Jesus LED up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil” Matthew 4:1.
Until redemption in Christ Jesus, the OLD TESTAMENT CREATION people were LED by mere men who served under God as Prophets, Priests, Kings and Levites, and who were not born again [not circumcised in the heart] otherwise born of God with the Holy Spirit living within them [Romans 2:28-29; Philippians 3:3; John 14:16-27; Romans 5:5]. All of them, from the Old Testament till the Gospel, none was born of the Spirit in their spirit-being, in order for them to know, understand and experience God within for themselves [John 3:1-15]. Those used to accomplish divine purpose in the Old Creation Testament received the Blessed [empowering] Spirit of God’s BLESSEDNESS UPON them firstly – without living WITHIN them – but ONLY for them to function and carry out the intent, plan, purpose and pursuit of God as they were instructed in all generations and dispensations until Christ Jesus. That Is when the Spirit WITHIN comes into being for our BLESSEDNESS within. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the divine trinity, was concealed – not revealed in person except in function- to those used in the Old Creation Testament.
“For there are three that bear record [witness] in heaven, THE Father, THE Word, and THE Holy Ghost: and these three are one” 1 John 5:7.
And God’s BLESSEDNESS in grace is as real as when it is being carried by the spiritual empowering of the Holy Spirit, who is the enabler of God, and the ensuring factor that brings God’s promises to physical reality – tangibility in various formats to all in humanity. Unfortunately, most people think that God’s BLESSEDNESS, [BLESSINGS] are of the physical, [tangible] things they see, feel/touch, smell, hear and taste; which unfortunately, it is not, otherwise it would rot, rust, corrupt, decay, degrade, depreciate and the like, in all things happening under the Sun. And it is heavenly secured in God’s hands of righteousness, where Christ is seated and we in grace ARE positioned and seated at the right hand of the Father God, and it is with no earthly corruptions, counterfeits, distortion and adulteration to undermine its priceless worth in the grace.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath BLESSED us with all spiritual blessings in HEAVENLY places in Christ . . . 20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the HEAVENLY places” Ephesians 1:3, 20.
“And hath raised us up together, and made us SIT together in HEAVENLY places in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 2:6.
“Lay not up for yourselves TREASURES upon earth, where MOTH and RUST doth CORRUPT, and where THIEVES break through and STEAL: 20 but lay up for yourselves TREASURES IN HEAVEN, where neither MOTH nor RUST doth CORRUPT, and where THIEVES do not BREAK through nor STEAL: 21 for where your TREASURE is, there will your HEART [SPIRIT-BEING] be also” Matthew 6:19-21.
For God’s enabled BLESSEDNESS, [BLESSING] it is not accompanied with sorrow and such like, but it enriches to all things. And it is not limited to any to monopolised, as it is irrespective of gender, race, colour, tongue, status, class, geographical location, etc. And it is not governed by sentiments, prejudice and dissimulation.
“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” Proverbs 10:22.
“For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is NO DIFFERENCE between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is RICH UNTO ALL that call upon him. 13 For WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED” Romans 10:11-13.
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is NO RESPECTER of persons: 35 but in EVERY NATION he that FEARETH him, and WORKETH RIGHTEOUSNESS, is ACCEPTED with him” Acts 10:34-35.
“Christ hath REDEEMED us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 that THE BLESSING of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might RECEIVE the PROMISE of the Spirit through faith . . . 26 For ye ARE all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is NEITHER Jew nor Greek, there is NEITHER bond nor free, there is NEITHER male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” Galatians 3:13-14, 26-29.
In same scenario, to BE LED BY THE SPIRIT [HOLY SPIRIT] is another act of the BLESSEDNESS [BLESSING] of God in Christ Jesus. That you live and do life in grace by the leading [being led] of God in every one of your life decisions, it is an awesome, gracious and graceful realm to enjoy of God in order to fulfil purpose in your redemption in Christ Jesus’ stead. Amen.
Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord in humanity knows the virtue of BEING LED of the Spirit, from the onset of His humanity and Ministry until the end of His time in our redemption. He knows it takes the Father God’s BLESSEDNESS to function within His perspectives. And because He was BEING LED of the Holy Spirit, He was able to fulfil the demands of the Father God for human redemption with no stone left unturned in His humanity [Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 4:1/Luke 4:1-22; Acts 10:38].
The Believers of God in Christ Jesus can also enjoy the BLESSEDNESS of God in BEING LED of the Holy Spirit. It is God’s given access to ALL in Redemption that are born of God in Christ Jesus [Romans 5:1-2, 5-8]. That is what ensures SONSHIP in God in Christ Jesus. [Galatians 4:6-7; Romans 8:14 (8-11, 14-17, 26-40); Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; John 7:37-39; Luke 11:9-13]. And every believer should crave to ensure that they are BEING LED of God, otherwise satan and his cohorts will set up middlemen in religious cloaks and will act religiously as your go-between to God, which is unscriptural toward religiosity, dogma, bondage and such like [1 Timothy 2:5; Acts 4:12]. There are many out there for deception, to pervert and to deceive others of the truth [Galatians 1:6-9; Jude 1:3-4; Philippians 1:15-18]. And BEING LED of the Holy Spirit BLESSEDNESS gives the wisdom from above, to be above only in Christ Jesus’ stead. Amen. [James 3:15 (13-18)].
I PRAY that you will rise up now in Christ Jesus and thirst and hunger after the BLESSEDNESS of BEING LED by the Holy Spirit of promise – who is the Holy Spirit of the triune [trinity] God [1 John 5:7]. If you act otherwise, it then means you have set yourself readily ready to fall prey and victim before the enemy and cohorts of your faith in Christ Jesus’ stead. [1 Peter 5:8-9; James 3:13-18].
SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING ON CONTEXT:
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one” 1 John 5:7.
“Then was Jesus LED up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil” Matthew 4:1.
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was LED by the Spirit into the wilderness . . . 14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all . . . 18 The Spirit of the Lord is UPON me, because he hath ANOINTED me to PREACH the GOSPEL to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. 22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the GRACIOUS WORDS WHICH PROCEEDED OUT OF HIS MOUTH. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?” Luke 4:1-22.
“How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him” Acts 10:38/AMP Classic Edition.
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you . . . 14 For as many as are LED by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together” Romans 8:9-11, 14-17.
“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be ENDUED WITH POWER from on high” Luke 24:49.
“But ye shall RECEIVE POWER, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be WITNESSES unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” Acts 1:8.
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” John 7:37-39.
“. . . 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father GIVE the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:9-13.
“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from ABOVE, but is EARTHLY, SENSUAL, DEVILISH. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” James 3:13-18.
SUMMARY:
Core Thesis:
The message presents being led by the Holy Spirit as the central blessedness of the New Covenant. It contrasts Old Testament function “upon” with New Testament life “within”, arguing that true purpose, sonship, and God’s incorruptible blessedness are accessed only through Spirit-led living in Christ.
- Definition of God’s Blessedness
Nature: Not physical, tangible, or perishable. It does not rot, rust, decay, or depreciate like earthly things [Matthew 6:19-20].
Location/Security: Heavenly, secured in God’s hands of righteousness where Christ sits at the right hand of the Father [Ephesians 1:3, 20; Ephesians 2:6]. Believers are “seated in heavenly places in Christ”.
Character: Adds no sorrow [Proverbs 10:22]. Enriches in all things. Inclusive — no difference of gender, race, class, geography [Romans 10:11-13; Galatians 3:28]. Not governed by sentiment, prejudice, or dissimulation.
- “Being Led of the Spirit” as Enabling Power
Scriptural Anchor: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” [Romans 8:14]. Spirit-led living is presented as proof of sonship.
Christ’s Pattern: Jesus Himself knew the virtue of being Spirit-led from the start of His ministry [Luke 4:1] until redemption was complete [Matthew 4:1; Acts 10:38]. He functioned by the Father’s blessedness and the Spirit’s empowerment, fulfilling every demand of redemption.
Believer’s Access: This same Spirit-led access is “God’s given access to all in redemption who are born of God in Christ Jesus” [Romans 5:1-2, 5-8]. It is not for a select few.
- Old Testament vs New Testament Contrast
Old Testament Creation: People were led by men under God — Prophets, Priests, Kings, Levites. They were “not born again, not circumcised in the heart” [Romans 2:28-29].
Spirit’s Role Then: The Spirit came upon them for function — to carry out God’s intent for that dispensation — but did not live within them [John 7:39]. None were born of the Spirit in their spirit-being until Christ.
New Testament Reality: With redemption in Christ, the Spirit within comes into being for the believer’s blessedness. The Spirit is now revealed, not concealed, as the third person of the triune God [1 John 5:7]. This enables knowing, understanding, and experiencing God internally [John 3:1-15].
- Practical Implications for Believers
Sonship & Purpose: Spirit-led living ensures sonship [Galatians 4:6-7; Romans 8:14-17] and empowers believers to access and fulfil purpose in Christ.
Warning Against Religious Go-Betweens: If believers are not Spirit-led, they become prey to “middlemen in religious cloaks” promoting religiosity, dogma, and bondage [1 Timothy 2:5; Acts 4:12]. Scripture warns of deceivers who pervert truth [Galatians 1:6-9; Jude 1:3-4].
Wisdom from Above: Being led by the Holy Spirit gives “wisdom from above” — pure, peaceable, gentle, full of mercy [James 3:15, 17] — which keeps the believer “above only in Christ Jesus’ stead”.
- Exhortation
The message closes as a prayerful charge: believers must “rise up now in Christ Jesus and thirst and hunger after the blessedness of being led by the Holy Spirit of promise” [Matthew 5:6; Luke 11:9-13]. Failure to do so leaves one open as prey to the enemy [1 Peter 5:8-9]. The call is to crave Spirit-dependence for power, witness [Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49], and victory.
Summary in one sentence:
God’s incorruptible, heavenly blessedness in Christ is accessed and expressed through the enabling power of the Holy Spirit within, which makes Spirit-led living the defining mark of New Covenant sonship, purpose, and protection against religious bondage.
