The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST: When You Do WELCOME The Prodigal HOME!

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Then He said: “A certain man had two sons.  12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood.  13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.  14 But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.  15 Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.  16 And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!  18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,  19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’ 20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.  21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring[b] out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.  23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;  24 for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry. 25 “Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.  26 So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.  27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’ 28 “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.  29 So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.  30 But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ 31 “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.  32 It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found” Luke 15:11-32.

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST

October 16, 2021 By Pastor Chukie Leave a Comment

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST: When You Do OWE In All – NOTHING But LOVE – And To See LOVE As An Inescapable And Supreme Obligation!

God’s LOVE is a beautiful gift we are given to share with each other and beyond borders.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“OWE no one ANYTHING except to LOVE one another, for he who LOVES another has fulfilled the law.  9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all SUMMED up in this saying, namely, “You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself.” 10 LOVE does no harm to a neighbor; therefore LOVE is the FULFILLMENT of the law” Romans 13:8-10.

“Let LOVE BE WITHOUT DISSIMULATION (DISCRIMINATION, HYPOCRISY). Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with BROTHERLY LOVE; in honour preferring one another; 11 not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” Romans 12:9-21.

“Beloved, let us LOVE ONE ANOTHER: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; FOR GOD IS LOVE. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also” 1 John 4:7-21.

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST: When You Do LOVE And PRAY For Your ENEMY And All Those That DESPISES And REVILE You!

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall LOVE your neighbor and HATE your enemy.’  44 But I say to you, LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, BLESS those who CURSE you, DO GOOD to those who HATE you, and PRAY for those who SPITEFULLY use you and PERSECUTE you,  45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.  46 For if you love those who LOVE you, what reward have you? Do not even the TAX COLLECTORS do the same?  47 And if you GREET your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the TAX COLLECTORS do so?  48 Therefore you shall be PERFECT, just as your Father in heaven is perfect” Matthew 5:43-48

“Dearly beloved, AVENGE NOT yourselves, but rather give PLACE UNTO WRATH: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine ENEMY hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” Romans 12:19-21.

“If thine ENEMY be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: 22 for thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee” Proverbs 25:21-22.

“When a man’s ways PLEASE the Lord, he maketh even his ENEMIES to be at PEACE with him” Proverbs 16:7.

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST: When You Do LOVE Your NEIGHBOUR And The STRANGER!

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to INHERIT eternal life?  26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how READEST thou?  27 And he answering said, Thou shalt LOVE the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy NEIGHBOUR as thyself.  28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. 29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, AND WHO IS MY NEIGHBOUR?  30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.  31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.  32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.  33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,  34 and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.  35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.  36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?  37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise” Luke 10:25-37.

“And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 and thou shalt LOVE the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the FIRST commandment. 31 And the SECOND is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy NEIGHBOUR as thyself. THERE IS NONE OTHER COMMANDMENT GREATER THAN THESE” Mark 12:28-31.

HAVING FAITH IN GOD

October 16, 2021 By Pastor Chukie Leave a Comment

HAVING FAITH IN GOD: Is Having FAITH In His WORD!

To have FAITH in God, is to have FAITH in His WORD. To have FAITH in His WORD is to first BELIEVE in His WORD. To BELIEVE in His WORD is to HEAR His WORD and ACT – CONCEIVE accordingly to His WORD. Therefore, FAITH IS ACTING ACCORDINGLY ON WHAT YOU BELIEVE (CONCEIVE) OF THE HEARING OF GOD’S WORD.

Mountains can be levelled or made a plain, Valleys can be exalted or filled, Crooked Road can be made strait and Rough Places in life can be made smooth, when we BELIEVE on What God had said by His WORD about that matter, then ACT accordingly on it.

YOU DON’T NEED TO FAKE IT TO MAKE IT OR UNTIL YOU MAKE IT. There’s no room to fake or dilute or adulterate God’s WORD to make it. Just BELIEVE and act on it accordingly, then your miraculous needs will be answered effortless.

UNBELIEF is a killer disease to RECEIVING from God. I mean UNBELIEF to the WORD of God. BELIEVE is of the heart (human spirit) and not of the head (Five Senses). It’s heart knowledge and not head (senses) knowledge.

THREE REASONS TO CRAVE FOR THE WORD:

*** FAITH can only COME by the HEARING of the WORD of God, that is needed to plight in life; and to thrive meaningfully, purposefully and fulfilling – Romans 10:17; Amos 8:11-14; Galatians 3:2-6.

*** The WORD is of the TRINITY in the Heaven or Heavenly places where your expected blessing are located and comes to you by FAITH – 1 John 5:7; John 1:1-7, 14; Ephesians 1:3.

*** The Holy Angels, supposedly the ministering agents of God that are there to convey your blessings to you from the heavens, ONLY RESPONDS, that is, ATTENDS or HARKENS to the VOICE of God’s WORD and not to a mere tears or sentiments and emotions – Psalms 103:20, Hebrews 1:7, 14.

Know for sure and sure that FAITH is ACTING accordingly on what you BELIEVE (CONCEIVE) as a CONSEQUENCE of the HEARING of God’s WORD.

Therefore, THINK. PONDER. MEDITATE.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your UNBELIEF: for verily I say unto you, If ye have FAITH as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall SAY unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and NOTHING shall be IMPOSSIBLE unto you” Matthew 17:19-20.

“And Jesus answering saith unto them, HAVE FAITH IN GOD. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not DOUBT IN HIS HEART, but shall BELIEVE that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, BELIEVE that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” Hebrews 11:22-24.

“But what saith it? THE WORD is nigh thee, even in THY MOUTH, and in THY HEART: that is, the WORD OF FAITH, which we preach; 9 that if thou shalt CONFESS with THY MOUTH the Lord Jesus, and shalt BELIEVE IN THINE HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with THE HEART MAN BELIEVETH unto righteousness; AND WITH THE MOUTH confession is made unto salvation . . . 17 So then FAITH cometh by HEARING, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD” Romans 10:8-10, 17.

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST: When You Do NOURISH And CHERISH Your SPOUSE And FAMILY!

There’s nothing as awesome as to MARRY the PERSON you LOVE and LOVING the PERSON that you MARRIED. It makes a great deal to the making of a WHOLESOME family and home. As such, it’s imperative that we LOVE, NURTURE, NOURISH and CHERISH our SPOUSE, and the FAMILY we’ve made out of such a unique relationship.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, as dear children;  2 and WALK IN LOVE, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a SWEETSMELLING SAVOUR. . .21 SUBMITTING yourselves one to another in the FEAR (REVERENCE) of God. 22 Wives, SUBMIT yourselves unto your own husbands, AS unto the Lord.  23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.  24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their OWN husbands in EVERY THING.  25 Husbands, LOVE your wives, EVEN AS CHRIST ALSO LOVED THE CHURCH, AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR IT;  26 that he might SANCTIFY and CLEANSE it with the washing of water by the word,  27 that he might PRESENT it to himself a GLORIOUS church, not having SPOT, or WRINKLE, or ANY SUCH THING; but that it should be HOLY and WITHOUT BLEMISH.  28 So ought men to LOVE their wives as their own bodies. He that LOVETH his wife LOVETH himself.  29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but NOURISHETH and CHERISHETH it, even as the Lord the church:  30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.  31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.  33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband” Ephesians 5:1-2, 21-33

“And Isaac BROUGHT her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he LOVED her: and Isaac was COMFORTED after his mother’s death” Genesis 24:67.

“Wives, SUBMIT yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. 19 Husbands, LOVE your wives, and be not BITTER against them. 20 Children, OBEY your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. 21 Fathers, PROVOKE not your children to ANGER, lest they be DISCOURAGED” Colossians 3:18-21.

“Children, OBEY your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 HONOUR thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, PROVOKE not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the NURTURE and ADMONITION of the Lord” Ephesians 6:1-4.

“That they may TEACH the young women to be SOBER, to LOVE their husbands, to LOVE their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8 sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you” Titus 2:4-8.

“RID me, and DELIVER me from the hand of STRANGE children, whose MOUTH speaketh vanity, and their RIGHT HAND is a right hand of FALSEHOOD: 12 that our SONS may be as plants GROWN up in their YOUTH; that our DAUGHTERS may be as corner stones, POLISHED after the SIMILITUDE of a PALACE: 13 that our GARNERS may be full, AFFORDING all MANNER of store: that our SHEEP may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: 14 that our OXEN may be strong to labour; that there be NO BREAKING in, nor GOING out; that there be no COMPLAINING in our streets. 15 HAPPY is that people, that is in such a case: yea, HAPPY is that people, whose God is the Lord” Psalms 144:12-15.

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST

October 16, 2021 By Pastor Chukie Leave a Comment

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST: When You knowingly LOVE And WASH The Feet Of The BLACK SHEEP Staff Among You!

Only by God’s kind of LOVE – Agape, can one be calm and at peace, dine and wash the feet of the one you know so well had betrayed you to your enemies. Jesus loves all unto the end – for love thrives in the midst of fears, hatred, and wickedness. 1 John 4:17-18. Love is the ONLY invincible trap, which I call – LOVE SET TRAP – to send your traitors, conspirators, betrayers, and blackmailers to their own night of DARKNESS – effortless and without stress. Hence our REDEMPTION is perfectly GRACIOUS and GRACEFUL in the power of God’s LOVE.

Love was the trap set to get the DEVIL and COHORTS to enhance our REDEMPTION. Jesus loves all to the end. While he was LOVING His own, SATAN and COHORTS – Judas Iscariot, were at work, not knowing that it’s the Father God gateway and set traps to bring redemption into reality. Satan entered Judas, he made himself a VESSEL OF OFFENCE even in the midst of Christ Jesus offering and devoting love and sacrifice of service to them all as living examples to follow as His DISCIPLES.

Love Is And Was At Its Best, When God in Christ Jesus, knowingly Love And Wash The Feet Of The Black Sheep Staff Among His DISCIPLES – That’s Incredible!

It’s WORTH noting that LOVE is a double edge sword and it’s the only blow that satan and cohorts can’t DECIPHER when it matters. God’s final blow that’s indescribable and incomprehensible.

LOVE was God’s SET TRAP to make our REDEMPTION a reality and to give unprecedented silencing and unforgettable blow to SATAN and COHORTS. It’s time to make your FAITH effectual through LOVE – Galatians 5:6, 13-14.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Which NONE OF THE PRINCES OF THIS WORLD KNEW: for had they known it, they would not have CRUCIFIED the Lord of glory” 1 Corinthians 2:8

“Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that OFFENCES WILL COME: but WOE unto him, through WHOM they come!” Luke 17:1.

“Herein is our LOVE MADE PERFECT, that we may have BOLDNESS in the day of judgment: BECAUSE AS HE IS, SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD. 18 There is NO FEAR IN LOVE; but PERFECT LOVE CASTETH OUT FEAR: because FEAR HATH TORMENT. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” 1 John 4:17-18.

“Now before the FEAST OF THE PASSOVER, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, HE LOVED THEM UNTO THE END.  2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;  3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;  4 HE RISETH FROM SUPPER, AND LAID ASIDE HIS GARMENTS; AND TOOK A TOWEL, AND GIRDED HIMSELF. 5 AFTER THAT HE POURETH WATER INTO A BASON, AND BEGAN TO WASH THE DISCIPLES’ FEET, AND TO WIPE THEM WITH THE TOWEL WHEREWITH HE WAS GIRDED.  6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?  7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.  8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.  9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.  10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, BUT NOT ALL.  11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. 12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?  13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.  14 IF I THEN, YOUR LORD AND MASTER, HAVE WASHED YOUR FEET; YE ALSO OUGHT TO WASH ONE ANOTHER’S FEET.  15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.  16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.  17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. 18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.  19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.  20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.  22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.  23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.  24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.  25 He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?  26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. AND WHEN HE HAD DIPPED THE SOP, HE GAVE IT TO JUDAS ISCARIOT, THE SON OF SIMON.  27 AND AFTER THE SOP SATAN ENTERED INTO HIM. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.  28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.  29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.  30 HE THEN HAVING RECEIVED THE SOP WENT IMMEDIATELY OUT: AND IT WAS NIGHT. 31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.  32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him” John 13:1-32.

The Father’s Heart – LOVE AT ITS BEST: When You Do TREASURE In Love – The WORD Of God!

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who LOVES Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.  2 By this we know that we LOVE the children of God, when we LOVE God and keep His commandments.  3 For this is the LOVE of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome” 1 John 5:1-3.

“Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have ESTEEMED THE WORDS of his mouth MORE THAN MY NECESSARY FOOD”  Job 23:12.

“O how LOVE I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. 98 Thou through thy commandments hast MADE ME WISER than mine enemies: for they are ever with me” Psalms 119:97-98.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.  2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)  3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.  4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.  5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.  6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. 7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judæa again.  8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?  9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.  10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.  11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.  12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.  13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.  14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.  15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.  16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him. 17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.  18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:  19 and many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.  20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.  21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.  22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.  23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.  24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.  25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:  26 and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?  27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. 28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.  29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.  30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.  31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there. 32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.  33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,  34 and said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.  35 Jesus wept.  36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!  37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died? 38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.  39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.  40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?  41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.  42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.  43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.  44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. 45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.  46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done” John 11:1-46.
