GREED AND COVETOUSNESS – “THE LOVE OF MONEY”: THE THREE MAJOR CAUSES AND THEIR SIDE EFFECTS!

“For THE LOVE of MONEY is the ROOT of ALL EVIL: which while some COVETED after, they have ERRED from the FAITH and PIERCED themselves through with many SORROWS” 1 Timothy 6:10/Emphasis Mine.

Money (Finance) is a de facto medium of exchange. On its own, it’s not EVIL or an EVIL or the ROOT of EVIL or ROOT of all EVIL as some acclaimed; but it is ‘THE LOVE OF MONEY’ and to simply say – “THE LOVE OF THE MONEY” on itself, is the ROOT of ALL EVIL.

Money is GOOD. It’s a great means of defence that answers and it’s answering man’s QUEST in doing life, especially when diligently, wisely and prudently obtained and expended without prejudice, sentiments and dissimulation.

However, ‘THE LOVE OF MONEY’ has some CAUSES and side EFFECTS especially when obtained by GREED and COVETEOUSNESS.

Herein are THREE WARNING SIGNS in order not to be in a position of being captivated and enslaved by – THE LOVE OF MONEY – that’s obtained by GREED and COVETOUSNESS and such like:

It causes WORRY: Lack of Sleep – sleepless moments when the balance sheet is not meeting expectations or overwhelmingly breaking your set point.

“The SLEEP of a LABOURING man is SWEET, whether he eat little or much: BUT THE ABUNDANCE OF THE RICH WILL NOT SUFFER HIM TO SLEEP” Ecclesiastes 5:12.

“The SLEEP of a WORKING man is SWEET, whether he eats little or much; BUT THE FULL STOMACH (GREED) OF THE RICH [WHO HUNGERS FOR EVEN MORE] WILL NOT LET HIM SLEEP” Ecclesiastes 5:12/Amplified.

It causes DISSATISFACTIONS: It allows greediness and covetousness to breed in all forms, thereby create discomfort and unhealthy sphere.

“He that LOVETH SILVER shall not be SATISFIED with SILVER; nor he that LOVETH ABUNDANCE with INCREASE: this is also vanity” Ecclesiastes 5:10.

“He who LOVES MONEY will not be SATISFIED with MONEY, nor he who LOVES ABUNDANCE with its GAIN. This too is VANITY (EMPTINESS)” Ecclesiastes 5:10/Amplified

It causes TEMPTATION: It allows and leads to the breaking of SET RULES and REGULATIONS, even the STATUTORY law, in order to get and acquire more at any cost – which many have become accustomed.

“A FAITHFUL man shall ABOUND with blessings: BUT HE THAT MAKETH HASTE TO BE RICH SHALL NOT BE INNOCENT. 21 To have respect of persons is not good: FOR A PIECE OF BREAD THAT MAN WILL TRANSGRESS. 22 He that HASTETH TO BE RICH hath AN EVIL EYE, and considereth not that POVERTY shall come upon him” Proverbs 28:20-22.

“The TRUSTWORTHY person will get a RICH reward, but A PERSON WHO WANTS QUICK RICHES WILL GET INTO TROUBLE. 21 Showing partiality is never good, YET SOME WILL DO WRONG FOR A MERE PIECE OF BREAD. 22 GREEDY PEOPLE TRY TO GET RICH QUICK but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty” Proverbs 28:20 NLT.

Money is good in itself when it’s made to serve or be a servant and not as lord to any and every vital and legal means of living and doing life. Make it your servant or errand tool only and not your life controller, then you will experience the PEACE of mind indescribable. With peace of mind one is able to be CONTENTED, live GODLY, and to keep temptation, worry – anxiety and dissatisfaction at bay.

I pray you will not be entangled in bondage as a money lover for a mere self and selfish gratifications at the expense of others, the rule of law, and the decency and order in and for the community.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“For THE LOVE of MONEY is the ROOT of ALL EVIL: which while some COVETED after, they have ERRED from the FAITH, and PIERCED themselves through with many SORROWS” 1 Timothy 6:10/Emphasis Mine.

“A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: BUT MONEY ANSWERETH ALL THINGS”/Ecclesiastes 10:19.

“If any man teach OTHERWISE, and consent not to WHOLESOME WORDS, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to GODLINESS; 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, SUPPOSING that GAIN IS GODLINESS: from such WITHDRAW thyself. 6 But GODLINESS with CONTENTMENT is GREAT GAIN. 7 For we brought NOTHING into this world, and it is certain we can CARRY NOTHING OUT” 1 Timothy 6:3-7.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: STAY AWAY FROM ALL BELIEVERS WHO LIVE IDLE LIVES AND DON’T FOLLOW THE TRADITION THEY RECEIVED FROM US. 7 For you know that you ought to IMITATE us. We were NOT IDLE when we were with you. 8 WE NEVER ACCEPTED FOOD FROM ANYONE WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT. THE “LOVE” OF MONEY: THREE MAJOR CAUSES AND THEIR SIDES EFFECT’S!

“For THE LOVE OF MONEY is the ROOT OF ALL EVIL: which while some COVETED after, they have ERRED from the FAITH, and PIERCED themselves through with many SORROWS” 1 Timothy 6:10/Emphasis Mine.

MONEY (Finance) is a DE FACTO medium of exchange. And “MONEY” on its merit, is not EVIL or an EVIL or the ROOT of EVIL or ROOT of all EVIL as some acclaim; but it is THE “LOVE OF MONEY”, that is what the ROOT of ALL EVIL thus indicate. Money is GOOD. It’s a great means of defence in life, when wisely and prudently expended.

“WISDOM along with an INHERITANCE is good. And an [excellent] advantage for those who see the sun. 12 For WISDOM is a protection even as MONEY is a protection, But the [excellent] advantage of KNOWLEDGE is that WISDOM shields and preserves the lives of its possessors” Ecclesiastes 7:11-12/Amplified.

Money is good when it’s made to serve or be a servant and not made to be as lord to every vital and legal means of living and doing life. You have to make money a servant or an errand tool only, and not your life controller, for only then will you experience the PEACE of mind that’s indescribable and incomprehensible. With peace of mind, one is able to be CONTENT and LIVE GODLY, and to keep THE “LOVE OF MONEY” temptation at bay.

You must know and understand as God’s own that GAIN is not GODLINESS or equal to GODLINESS, but rather, that GODLINESS with CONTENTMENT, is a great GAIN as the Scripture enjoined.

“. . . 6 But GODLINESS actually is a SOURCE of GREAT GAIN when accompanied by CONTENTMENT [that contentment which comes from a sense of inner confidence based on the SUFFICIENCY of God]” 1 Timothy 6:3-6/Amplified.

And in as much as Money is good for the causes already explained, there’s a problem when one falls into the phase and sphere of – “THE LOVE OF MONEY”. For “THE LOVE OF MONEY” has some CAUSES and SIDES EFFECTS. And herein are THREE WARNING SIGNS to observe, in order not to be in a position of being captivated and enslaved by – “THE LOVE OF MONEY” syndromes:

“THE LOVE OF MONEY” CAUSES WORRY: A lack of Sleep – sleeplessness moments, if and when the balance sheet is not meeting expectations or overwhelmingly breaking your set point.

“The sleep of a working man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach (greed) of the rich [who hungers for even more] WILL NOT LET HIM SLEEP” Ecclesiastes 5:12/Amplified.

“THE LOVE OF MONEY” CAUSES DISSATISFACTIONS: It allows and breeds greediness and covetousness.

“He who LOVES MONEY WILL NOT BE SATISFIED with MONEY, nor he who LOVES abundance with its GAIN. This too is vanity [emptiness]” Ecclesiastes 5:10.

“THE LOVE OF MONEY” CAUSES TEMPTATION: It allows and leads to the BREAKING OF RULES, even THE LAW in order to get and acquire more at any cost irrespective of the underlying consequences.

“He that TILLETH HIS LAND shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after VAIN persons shall have poverty enough. 20 A FAITHFUL man shall abound with blessings: but he that MAKETH HASTE TO BE RICH SHALL NOT BE INNOCENT. 21 To have respect of persons is not good: FOR FOR A PIECE OF BREAD THAT MAN WILL TRANSGRESS. 22 He that HASTETH TO BE RICH HATH AN EVIL EYE, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him” Proverbs 28:19-22.

I pray you will not be entangled in bondage as a MONEY LOVER for mere self and selfish gratifications at – the EXPENSE of others, the decency and order of the RULE of law, the worth of living good to yourself, to family and to the community and to the nation you service.

OCCUPY TILL I COME IN GIVING: FOR GOD’S LOVED-WORLD IS A GIVING WORLD!

“For God so LOVED the WORLD that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.

God’s LOVED-WORLD is an awesome world of LOVE – therefore, don’t be SELFISH about it. To many the opposite of LOVE may be HATE or HATRED. On the contrary, in God’s scriptural kingdom, LOVE opposite is SELFISHNESS – being selfish, covetous, hoarding and greedy.

“GIVE, and it shall be GIVEN unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men GIVE into your bosom. For with the SAME MEASURE that ye mete withal it shall be MEASURED to you again” Luke 6:38.

The LOVED-WORLD of God is made to be liveable, likeable, loveable and enjoyable because of the act of GIVING that takes place every now and then. For example, the plants GIVES out oxygen to RECEIVE or TAKE IN carbon dioxide for their photosynthesis. In same scenario are the humans and all living creation. We GIVE out carbon dioxide and TAKE IN oxygen to keep our human body alive and life in check. This cycle keeps life going every day. It’s a GIVING world; hence it’s LOVED-WORLD and it’s LIKEABLE, LIVEABLE, LOVEABLE, REACHABLE, INDESCRIBABLE and ENJOYABLE

God so LOVE, He GAVE! Genuine LOVE GIVES. Where God’s LOVE is, GIVING goes along. Giving could be in the form of giving once TIME, FINANCE, PHYSIQUE (STRENGTH), TALENT/SKILL, PROTECTION [DEFEND], VISITATION, MATERIAL GIFT, SPIRITUAL CARE and such likes and MORE, to the needy and vulnerable ONE especially. To authenticate and ensure God’s LOVE that saves us from sin keeps abounding in us in the grace, our Father God, abundantly and lavishly GAVE us the Holy Spirit of LOVE, to ensure that the DNA of love default is embedded in us to live and do life in love. Thus, indicating that everyone born of God in Christ Jesus, is carrying a default of love and it’s irrespective, except the individual chooses and decides to live otherwise against the true being in Christ Jesus stead.

“Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s LOVE has been ABUNDANTLY POURED out within OUR HEARTS through the Holy Spirit who was GIVEN to us . . . 8 But God clearly shows and proves His own LOVE for us, by the fact that while we were STILL SINNERS, Christ DIED for us” Romans 5:5, 8/Amplified.

It’s MORE BLESSED to GIVE than to RECEIVE, for givers NEVER goes down no matter what, this I know so well; hence you see that the hand of the giver is always above and over the recipient hands to receive; and that’s the kingdom principles which also work in the natural world. Make yourself a living giver today that’s propelled by love and by not in pride and arrogance that’s propelled by sentiments, prejudice and dissimulation.

Therefore, Do a self-check and be a GIVER today: For God’s LOVED world is a GIVING world – and our passion to help people when they are falling should outweigh our intent to crucify them when they fall – THERE’S NO ROOM FOR SELFISHNESS, HOARDING AND WITHHOLDING to enjoy the unspeakable gift of joy of God that’s in Christ Jesus stead.

“For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.

“I have shown you in every way, by labouring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘IT IS MORE BLESSED TO GIVE THAN TO RECIEVE” Acts 20:35.

“There is that SCATTERETH, and yet INCREASETH; and there is that WITHHOLDETH more than is meet, but it tendeth to POVERTY. 25 The LIBERAL soul shall be MADE fat: and he that WATERETH shall be WATERED also himself. 26 He that WITHHOLDETH corn, the people shall CURSE him: but BLESSING shall be upon the HEAD of him that SELLETH it” Proverbs 11:24-26.

“For God is not UNJUST so as to FORGET your WORK and the LOVE which you have SHOWN for His name in MINISTERING to [the needs of] the saints (God’s people), as you do. 11 And we desire for each one of you to SHOW the same DILIGENCE [all the way through] so as to realize and enjoy the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you will not be [spiritually] sluggish, but [will instead be] IMITATORS of those who through faith [lean on God with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in His power] and by patient endurance [even when suffering] are [now] INHERITING the promises” Hebrews 6:10-12 (Amplified).

OCCUPY TILL I COME – IN GIVING: FOR GOD’S LOVED WORLD – IS A GIVING WORLD!

#1. “THE LOVE OF MONEY” CAUSED WORRY: A lack of Sleep – sleeplessness moments, if and when the balance sheet is not meeting expectations or overwhelmingly breaking your set point.

“The sleep of a working man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach (greed) of the rich [who hungers for even more] WILL NOT LET HIM SLEEP” Ecclesiastes 5:12/Amplified.

#2. “THE LOVE OF MONEY” CAUSED DISSATISFACTIONS: It allows and breed greediness and covetousness.

“He who LOVES MONEY WILL NOT BE SATISFIED with MONEY, nor he who LOVES abundance with its GAIN. This too is vanity [emptiness]” Ecclesiastes 5:10.

#3. “THE LOVE OF MONEY” CAUSED TEMPTATION: It allows and leads to the BREAKING OF RULES, even THE LAW in order to get and acquire more at any cost irrespective of the underlying consequences.

I pray you will not be entangled in bondage as a MONEY LOVER for a mere self and selfish gratifications at – the EXPENSE of others, the decency and order of the RULE of law, the worth of living good to yourself, to family and to the community and to the nation you service.

OCCUPY TILL I COME IN GIVING: FOR GOD’S LOVED-WORLD – IS A GIVING WORLD!

“For God so LOVED the WORLD that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.

The LOVED-WORLD of God, is made to be liveable, likeable, loveable and enjoyable because of the act of GIVING that takes place every now and then. For example, the plants GIVES out oxygen to RECEIVE or TAKE IN carbon dioxide for their photosynthesis. In same scenario are the humans and all living creation. We GIVE out carbon dioxide and TAKE IN oxygen to keep our human body alive and life in check. This cycle keeps life going everyday. It’s a GIVING world, hence it’s LOVED-WORLD and it’s LIKEABLE, LIVEABLE, LOVEABLE, REACHABLE, INDESCRIBABLE and ENJOYABLE

God so LOVE, He GAVE! Genuine LOVE GIVES. Where God’s LOVE is, GIVING goes along. Giving could be in the form of once TIME, FINANCE, PHYSIQUE (strength), TALENT, VISITATIONS, MATERIAL GIFT, SPIRITUAL CARE and such likes and more to the needy one.

It’s MORE BLESSED to GIVE than to RECEIVE, for givers NEVER goes down no matter what, this I know so well; and that’s the kingdom principles which also work in the natural world.

GREED AND COVETOUSNESS – “THE LOVE OF MONEY”: THE THREE MAJOR CAUSES AND THEIR SIDE EFFECTS!

“For THE LOVE of MONEY is the ROOT of ALL EVIL: which while some COVETED after, they have ERRED from the FAITH, and PIERCED themselves through with many SORROWS” (1 Timothy 6:10) (Emphasis Mine).

However, ‘THE LOVE OF MONEY’ has some CAUSES and side EFFECTS especially when obtained by GREED and COVETEOUSNESS.

Herein are THREE WARNING SIGNS in order not to be in a position of being captivated and enslaved by – THE LOVE OF MONEY – obtained by GREED and COVETOUSNESS:

#1. It causes WORRY: A lack of Sleep – sleepless moments when the balance sheet is not meeting expectations or overwhelmingly breaking your set point.

“The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: BUT THE ABUNDANCE OF THE RICH WILL NOT SUFFER HIM TO SLEEP” Ecclesiastes 5:12.

“The sleep of a working man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; BUT THE FULL STOMACH (GREED) OF THE RICH [WHO HUNGERS FOR EVEN MORE] WILL NOT LET HIM SLEEP” Ecclesiastes 5:12/Amplified.

#2. It causes DISSATISFACTIONS: It allows greediness and covetousness to breed in all forms, thereby create discomfort and unhealthy sphere.

“He that LOVETH SILVER shall not be SATISFIED with SILVER; nor he that LOVETH ABUNDANCE with INCREASE: this is also vanity” Ecclesiastes 5:10.

“He who LOVES MONEY will not be SATISFIED with MONEY, nor he who LOVES ABUNDANCE with its GAIN. This too is vanity (emptiness)” Ecclesiastes 5:10/Amplified

#3. It causes TEMPTATION: It allows and leads to the breaking of set rules and regulations, even the statutory law, in order to get and acquire more at any cost – which many have become accustomed.

I pray you will not be entangled in bondage as a money lover for a mere self and selfish gratifications at the expense of others, the rule of law, and the decency and order in and for the community.

THE “LOVE” OF MONEY: THREE MAJOR CAUSES AND THE SIDES EFFECTS!

“For THE LOVE OF MONEY is the ROOT OF ALL EVIL: which while some COVETED after, they have ERRED from the FAITH, and PIERCED themselves through with many SORROWS” 1Timothy 6:10 (Emphasis Mine).

MONEY (Finance) is a De FACTO medium of exchange. And MONEY on its merit, it’s not EVIL or an EVIL or the ROOT of EVIL or ROOT of all EVIL as some acclaimed; but it is THE “LOVE” OF MONEY, that is what the ROOT of ALL EVIL thus indicate. Money is GOOD. It’s a great means of defense in life, when wisely and prudently expended.

Money is good when it’s made to serve or be a servant and not as lord to every vital and legal means of living and doing life. Make it your servant or errand tool only and not your life controller, then you will experience the PEACE of mind that’s indescribable and incomprehensible. With peace of mind one is able to be CONTENT and LIVE GODLY, and to keep THE “LOVE” OF MONEY temptation at bay. For GAIN is not GODLINESS but GODLINESS with CONTENTMENT is a great gain the Scripture enjoined.

And in as much as Money is good for the cause already explained, there’s a problem when one falls into the phase and sphere of – ‘THE LOVE OF MONEY’. For ‘THE LOVE OF MONEY’ has some CAUSES, or rather, SIDES EFFECTS. And herein are THREE WARNING SIGNS to observe, in order not to be in a position of being captivated and enslaved by – THE “LOVE” OF MONEY:
