Keep Yourself From IDOLS: What Is It About IDOLS And ICONS – The Relationship Between IDOLS And ICONS!

I believe in life, there’s the goodness, graciousness and gracefulness to look up to people or someone you admire to learn of them and to be challenged and charged up to become what you want to be for yourself in LIFE and GRACE in Christ Jesus. But to REVERED and BELIEVED in them firstly to be ABOVE and EQUAL to God, and secondly to loose the essence of your OWN WELL BEING and WORTH, in order to BECOME whom God made YOU to BE, is not only fallacy, stupidity, ignorance and foolishness but bondage, demonic and satanic. So, while being close to any or looking up to any, let it be through the mirror of the WORD in Christ Jesus stead, buy the Holy Spirit, so that you don’t derail when such a one does or off the glamour light ray that you’ve become accustomed to with such a person or group. James 1:22-25; 1 Peter 1:22-25; Hebrews 12:1-2; Hebrews 1:1-4; Galatians 4:8-16.

Why so, or such a fuss anyway? – it’s purely for the reason that sometimes you hear someone say – that’s my IDOL and or that’s my ICON; and all these, is in order to make them feel to belong with a sense of VALUE, as the saying goes – tell me your friend and they will tell you how much you WORTH and can be CHARACTERISED. And overtime it has become a norm in our worlds especially now in the Christian FAITH where many have replaced God with human’s and things; and some sects hardly READ their BIBLE regularly anymore for SELF-KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING in order to save them from the deceptions in our worlds and Churches today as Bereän Christian’s did to save their days in honour and dignity – Acts 17:10-12.

And for these deceptions in IDOLS and ICONS, many have given REVERED and BELIEVED as to what they SAY or DO as the norms or more important to them. And this have influenced our worlds and Churches in many ways. It’s effect has led many to all forms of BELIEVE and bondages with little or no SELF-WORTH anymore except what the adored IDOL and ICON signifies directly or indirectly.

Herein is a likely knowhow to their likeness and representations:

** An IDOL is usually from my previous post a STATURE but could be a PICTURE or IMAGE or PERSON and is REVERED and BELIEVED to have an actual link to the ENTITY it DEPICTS – in power or and essence.

** An ICON is similarly looked up to and at, in representation as an IDOL; as a result in this wise – When you look at an ICON while COMMUNICATING (say PRAYING) in picture or mind, it seems you are praying to god, but if you PRAY looking at the IDOL directly (in STATURE), you are PRAYING to the IDOL. In either ways you attributes an essence of praying to gods – which scripturally is demonic and spirits (spiritism).

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“For [God does not overlook sin and] the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness suppress and stifle the truth . . . 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree and His judgment, that those who do such things deserve death, yet they not only do them, but they even [enthusiastically] APPROVE and TOLERATE others who PRACTICE them” Romans 1:18, 32 (Amplified).

“We know [for a fact] that WE ARE OF GOD, and the whole world [around us] lies in the power of the evil one [opposing God and His precepts]. 20 And we [have seen and] know [by personal experience] that the Son of God has [actually] come [to this world], and has given us understanding and insight so that we may [progressively and personally] know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 21 Little children (believers, dear ones), GUARD YOURSELVES FROM IDOLS—[false teachings, moral compromises, and anything that would take God’s place in your heart]” 1 John 5:19-21 (Amplified).

“Howbeit then, when ye KNEW NOT God, ye did SERVICE unto them which by NATURE are NO GODS. 9 But now, after that ye have KNOWN God, or rather ARE KNOWN of God, HOW TURN YE AGAIN to the weak and BEGGARLY ELEMENTS, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10 Ye OBSERVE DAYS, and MONTHS, and TIMES, and YEARS. 11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. 12 Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. 13 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. 14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but RECEIVED ME AS AN ANGEL of God, even as Christ Jesus. 15 Where is then the BLESSEDNESS ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. 16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you THE TRUTH?” Galatians 4:8-16.

KEEP AWAY FROM IDOLS: What’s An IDOL/IDOLATRY – It’s ANYTHING!

Idol and Idolatry are nouns. Meaning they are personified – which indicates they have characteristics and behavioural acts and effects. And are not just demonic but spirits at work passively in some people and places, thereby creating the essence of addictions, suffering, poverty, setbacks, and such likes, that leads to further bondages. Their likeness and difference can be connoting as this:

** An IDOL is a graven image or representation of ANYTHING that is REVERED, or BELIEVED to convey spiritual power, essence and being.

** An IDOLATRY is the worship of IDOLS. It connotes the WORSHIP and SERVING (rendering services) of SOMETHING or SOMEONE other than God as if it were God.

SELAH – PAUSE AND THINK!

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Little children (believers, dear ones), guard yourselves from IDOLS—[false teachings, moral compromises, and ANYTHING that would take God’s place in your heart]” 1 John 5:21 (Amplified).

“Consider the people of Israel; are those who eat the sacrifices not partners of the altar [united in their worship of the same God]? [Indeed they are.] 19 What do I mean then? That a thing offered to idols is anything [special or changed simply because it is offered], or that AN IDOL IS ANYTHING? 20 On the contrary, the things which the Gentiles (pagans) sacrifice, they sacrifice to DEMONS [in effect], and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons [by eating at feasts in pagan temples]. 21 You CANNOT drink [both] the Lord’s cup and the cup of DEMONS. You cannot share in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons [thereby becoming partners with them]. 22 Do we [really] provoke the Lord to jealousy [when we eat food sacrificed to handmade “gods” at pagan feasts]? Are we [spiritually] stronger than He? [Certainly not! He knows that the idols are nothing. But we deeply [a]offend Him.]” 1 Corinthians 10:18-22 (Amplified).

“IT WAS FOR THIS FREEDOM THAT CHRIST SET US FREE [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed]” Galatians 5:1 (Amplified).

Keep Away From IDOLS or Being MADE An IDOL: An IDOL Is – ANYTHING – REVERED AND BELIEVED Other Than Almighty God!

Many times, in life I have heard some people say that the VOICE of MEN is the VOICE OF GOD. And that heaven helps those who helped themselves and each other, irrespective of how the help is carried out. And to them, since God may be so slow in their terms, they have to help themselves, and God can then follow suit in their terms if He really loves and cares about them. Really, I asked? It reminds me of the Biblical King Saul, hearkening to the people VOICE than that of God – 1 Samuel 15:1-35; 1 Samuel 10:18-20. We all know how it ended for him.

Know for sure and true, that God is a God of PRINCIPLE and not of SENTIMENTS nor of a METHOD. He only operate within His WORD and not by human sentiments, emotions and methodology. So, in any emotions and methodology, which are common to mere men for sentimental reasons and values, God is not there, for He will only action where His WORD is the STAND, in Christ Jesus stead. For a NO WORD, means a NO FAITH, meaning God is not PLEASE to get involved with such decisions at all. Hence making the VOICE of men your tool, makes you live outside God’s principle of BLESSEDNESS and abounding LOVE for His PURPOSE. GOD ONLY CONFIRM HIS WORD AND NOTHING ELSE. You need to always THINK about that before you make any decision in LIFE and GRACE.

And to have a VOICE, some will – religiously and or politically and for any leadership positions, kill or do any form of evil, wickedness and such likes to promote and certify the CAUSES and SENTIMENTS of their adored IDOL or ICON to indicate their allegiance; also, go any length to gratify that position of dignity and honour irrespective of what the person is doing or have done. And this you find happening both WITHIN the CHURCH as in the WORLD to meet the course of that leadership and governance – unfortunately some will welcome such ADORATION in the name of a godly and good causes in terms.

These acts of giving addicted REVERED and BELIEVED to your acclaimed IDOLS or ICONS has a deadly effect especially in LIFE and GRACE – GODLY LIVING, for a Christian and the Church of God. And same like, as to the one who is RECEIVING and ALLOWING such OVATION of men to overtake the place of God. And I wish people knows about the EFFECT, that it could be deadly.

And the fact that the sovereign and almighty God is slow to act accordingly in some occasions to authenticate his jealousy against these stupidity and acts of His glory being shared or equated and taken, does not mean He’s not aware or jealous as a jealous God visiting the iniquity of such behaviour. He’s still a jealous God of yesterday, today and tomorrow, and will act appropriately in his own time.

For so was Herod (King) Agrippa the first, who made himself God and took glory of God to satisfy the VOICE of the people. He paid deadly for it and none could stop God.

Are you in a position where people tend to REVERED and BELIEVED in you to ascertain doing deadly things that may warrants God’s anger? If I were you I will adhere not but learn a lesson from these three wise counts below in order not to be sentimental as in these scriptural instructions:

** Between Apostle John and the Angel – Revelation 19:10; Revelation 22:6-9.

** Between Apostle Paul, Barnabas and Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia – Acts 14:8-15.

** Between Apostle Peter and Cornelius – Acts 10:25-27.

And if these legends of Biblical spiritual being and Apostles REFUSED to be WORSHIP – REVERED and BELIEVED – as IDOLS or ICONS to please men APPLAUD but they lean solely on God’s APPROVAL as in Jesus Christ stead – Act 2:22; why are you so OBSESSED of your life position to always get offended if not accorded or given the ovation, applaud or oblation you so much crave. Getting offended and at raged because you are not properly addressed by your title and class indicates how insecure you are in what you crave for otherwise you will to be contented in the enabling grace provision of God in Christ Jesus stead. Romans 5:1-2.

I urge you to keep away from IDOLS and let none make you one! Idols are spirits, spirits acts as gods. And gods are demonic. The end is deadly now or later. REPENT!

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“Now Herod [Agrippa I] was EXTREMELY ANGRY with the people of Tyre and Sidon; and their delegates came to him in a united group, and after persuading Blastus, the king’s chamberlain [to support their cause], they asked for peace, because their country was fed by [imports of grain and other goods from] the king’s country. 21 On an appointed day Herod DRESSED HIMSELF IN HIS ROYAL ROBES, sat on his throne (tribunal, rostrum) and began delivering a speech to the people. 22 The assembled people kept shouting, “IT IS THE VOICE OF A GOD AND NOT OF A MAN!” 23 And at once an ANGEL of the Lord STRUCK him down because he did not GIVE God the glory [and instead PERMITTED himself to be worshiped], and he was eaten by worms and died [five days later]” Acts 12:20-23 (Amplified).

“Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man APPROVED of God among you by MIRACLES and WONDERS and SIGNS, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know” Acts 2:22.

“But without FAITH it is impossible to PLEASE him: for he that cometh to God must BELIEVE that he is, and that he is a REWARDER of them that diligently seek him” Hebrews 11:6

“But what saith it? THE WORD is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, THE WORD OF FAITH, which we preach; 9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation . . “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: BUT THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY HIS FAITH” Habakkuk 2:4.

“Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, HEARKENING UNTO THE VOICE OF HIS WORD” Psalms 103:20.

GOD IS ABLE AND FAITHFUL

GOD IS ABLE AND FAITHFUL: DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS!

The last time I checked with God about you in the Scriptures, He said, that your WORTH in Him, is GRACIOUS and PRICELESS. So, don’t let your present turbulence or circumstances makes you SETTLE FOR LESS than your WORTH in Christ Jesus; and much more before our God in the name of humility, which is actually ignorance, foolishness and stupidity; and not even before man nor satanic influences, because your true worth definition is not in men.

YOU ARE MORE OF GOD AND ABOVE ONLY!

You ARE of God, and His DESIGN and SHOWCASE LABEL to the world, for you ARE wonderfully and fearfully created, that is, reverently made. You ARE God made. You ARE of God’s cornerstone that’s fashioned and polished in the similitude of His palatial palace of GRACIOUSNESSS, GRACEFULNESS, FAITHFULNESS and BLESSEDNESS.

Your REDEMPTION is PRICELESS, don’t demean your WORTH for the less. Know full well, there’s an answer to your prayers, for God is able and faithful to meet up with you at the point of your need. God is NEVER late when you are patience – He’s always on time – Hebrews 10:23, 35-39. He lives in TIMELESS realm of possibility not on our 24hrs Gregorian timed Calendar. Hence FAITH which is a necessity tool of timeless realm in Him, is paramount importance to engaged with God – 1 John 5:4-5; Hebrews 11:6; Habakkuk 2:4. And surely and assuredly, God will meet you up at that point of possibility realm – Mark 9:23; Mark 10:27 and Matthew 19:26.

Dust off yourself right now, head up and raise your shoulder high and put on your high heels of redemption rights and privileges in Christ Jesus. Then arise in grace and look unto the HILLS wherein comes the ANSWERS and not the QUESTIONS as you step into your day. It’s your time to shine, go forth and shine, for your light is come and God’s PRICELESS glory is upon you.

Be Blessed – Meaning – Be Empowered in grace To Succeed, Thrive, Colour and be meaningfully Fulfilled.

YOU ARE WORTH THE LIVING – THE BEST OF GOD – DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS.

OBEYING THE HEAVENLY MANDATE

OBEYING THE HEAVENLY MANDATE: Preach CHRIST, Preach The WORD – There Would Be JOY In The City Of Your Being!

Don’t be Mistaken on the GOSPEL MESSAGE – It’s the POWER and ANSWER to all HUMAN INNERMOST QUEST – yesterday, today and tomorrow.

We live today in the times of pandemic, trials, brutality, bitterness, greed, persecutions, evils, denials, wickedness, hatred and poverty in our worlds, while there’s yet in the midst of all these happenings are God’s abundant provisions of DELIVERANCE, HOPE, FAITH and LOVE – for all hopeless, faithless and loveless challenges and circumstances.

The likelihood of the challenging times today is for most people to blame or curse or accuse or transfer aggressions to others. And some will take advantage of others by appealing to their emotions, sentiments and fears in other to have holds over them in their vulnerability.

And what people needs today in the midst of the situations, circumstances and challenges before them is the UNSPEAKABLE and INDESCRIBABLE JOY of the Lord in their hearts, family and communities; and much more the HOPE, FAITH and LOVE that can well out of their darkness as fountains with peace, worth, blessedness, graciousness, gracefulness and dignity. Hence a person of the HEAVENLY MANDATE, which is YOU, is of a great need and demand for today’s challenges and changing times. And your OBEDIENCE is PARAMOUNT to it all.

And a person of the HEAVENLY MANDATE indeed, will do only one thing: PREACH CHRIST, PREACH THE WORD in the midst of the irrelevancy of one’s and or people challenges and circumstances in order to trigger the needed JOY and PEACE that the individual, family, community and nations might need, in times of today’s challenges and changing times.

In the Apostolic days, all that was needed to bring OVERWHELMING JOY to the City of SAMARIA in the midst of persecution, evils, wickedness, falsehood, sorcery and divining, satanic cohorts preachers was to preach Christ, who is – The Living WORD. And the needed JOY came and took hold of the people while evil, hatred, falsehood and satanic cohorts and such likes, were silently KEPT AT BAY as God’s Kingdom and intent of overwhelming Joy advance to flood in the hearts of the Samaritan City.

I make bold to say that if you must keep your enemy at bay and keep the kingdom of God and intent advance in your life and those about you, PREACH CHRIST, PREACH THE WORD; Preach Not Sentiments, Not Denomination, Not Self egotism, and more importantly not Religion and not rudiments and traditions of this world. For that will create more conflicts than solving human needs and QUESTS.

I am been emboldened to make known to you that there will be a miracle of change in your life and godly living, because – THERE’S A MIRACULOUS POWER IN THE WORD, when CHRIST is PREACHED. The SALVATION that you, family and community you care about needs, is in The WORD, which is the GOSPEL OF CHRIST. Preach it! Live it!! And Joy Overwhelmingly will come!!! AMEN.

PREACH CHRIST – PREACH THE WORD – FOR THE GOSPEL MESSAGE – IS THE POWER, ANSWER AND ANTIDOTE TO THE QUEST, IN ALL HUMAN NEEDS.

“For God, who commanded the light to shine OUT OF DARKNESS, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” 2 Corinthians 4:6-7.

JULY2021 MANDATE: Being COMPLETE IN CHRIST JESUS – To Ensure God’s BLESSEDNESS in Him For You!

Don’t be MISTAKEN by any for whatsoever – for you ARE COMPLETE in Christ Jesus – and that SETTLES it all about doing LIFE and LIVING GODLY.

For Jesus Christ, is the GOSPEL, POWER and SANCTIFICATION; and REDEMPTION, RIGHTEOUSNESS and WISDOM of God for ALL human SALVATION: Health, Peace, Safety, Strength, Security, Deliverance, Prosperity, Triumph, Victory, Fulfilment, Completeness, Peacefulness, Joyfulness, Perfectness, Purposefulness, Meaningfulness and such like.

“And YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM, which is the head of all principality and power” Colossians 2:10.

“Jesus answered and said to them, “YOU ARE MISTAKEN, not KNOWING the Scriptures nor the POWER of God” Matthew 22:29 NKJV.

“For I am not ashamed of the GOSPEL of Christ: for it is the POWER of God unto SALVATION to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is THE RIGHTEOUSNESS of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” Romans 1:16-17.

JULY 2021 MANDATE: COMMUNICATE Your FAITH To Ensure Your DAILY COMPLETENESS In Christ Jesus!

We ARE COMPLETE, we ARE BEING MADE COMPLETE and WE SHALL BE MADE COMPLETE for all eternity, in Christ Jesus, in the fulness of age. Therefore, knowing and understanding who YOU ARE and have BECOME in Christ Jesus is a gracious and graceful treasure; but it’s not enough until you can COMMUNICATE that level of graciousnesss and gracefulness for your EFFECTUAL results, to all that pertains to doing LIFE and LIVING GODLY. For therein is the VICTORY, TRIUMPH, being an OVERCOMER and a MORE THAN CONQUERORS in Christ Jesus stead. 2 Corinthians 2:14; 1 Corinthians 15:57; Romans 8:37; 1 John 5:4-5.

In order therefore, to APPROPRIATE your being COMPLETE – WHOLE, PERFECTED, MATURED EQUIPPED and BLESSED – In Christ Jesus, you must continually COMMUNICATE YOUR FAITH in Christ Jesus to your situation and circumstances in life and grace.

And COMMUNICATING YOUR FAITH to ensure your BLESSEDNESS of being COMPLETE in Christ Jesus, is DONE by the ACKNOWLEDGING of every GOOD thing DONE IN YOU, BEING DONE IN YOU and THROUGH YOU in Christ Jesus. Amen.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:

“That the COMMUNICATION of your FAITH may become EFFECTUAL by the ACKNOWLEDGING of EVERY GOOD THING which is IN YOU in Christ Jesus” Philemon 6.

“NOW thanks be unto God, which ALWAYS CAUSETH US TO TRIUMPH in Christ, and maketh MANIFEST the savour of his KNOWLEDGE by us in every place” 2 Corinthians 2:14.

“For WHATSOEVER IS BORN of God OVERCOMETH the world: and this is THE VICTORY THAT OVERCOMETH the world, EVEN OUR FAITH. 5 Who is he that OVERCOMETH the world, but he that BELIEVETH that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:4-5.

“Now may the God of peace Himself SANCTIFY YOU through and through [that is, SEPARATE you from profane and vulgar things, MAKE YOU pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—SET APART for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept COMPLETE and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is CALLING YOU [to Himself for your salvation], and He will DO it [He will FULFILL His call by MAKING YOU holy, guarding you, watching over you, and protecting you as His own]” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (Amplified)

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the KNOWLEDGE of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 according as his DIVINE POWER hath GIVEN unto us ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN UNTO LIFE AND GODLINESS, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 whereby are GIVEN unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” 2 Peter 1:2-4.

“Beloved, I wish ABOVE ALL THINGS that thou mayest PROSPER and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy SOUL PROSPERETH” 3 John 1:2.

JESUS IS COMING & Our Heavenly Home Call Are Unpredictable: While You Have This Opportunity Of Being Alive – Make A Difference – Be A History Maker In Someone Else Life – Today And Always!

IT’S TIME TO ADD COLOUR TO SOMEONE ELSE LIFE – IT’S A GRACIOUS AND GRACEFUL THING TO DO. THANK YOU AS YOU START THE ACT TODAY.

Make it good to give COLOUR of graciousness and gracefulness to someone beyond you.

Take out any or all of these resources in your disposals today – TIME, FINANCE and EFFORT (Skill), and CALL or and GO visit that friend, relation or someone you know that have not being around for a while; more so, especially the one that have been absence for a while towards the Church community gathering, and show sure God’s LOVE and CARES without worries and complaints. It’s moment in life and history to encourage their faith in the Lord, pray with them and be of help to make them seek the Lord and His Church one more time.

A SMILE to the orphan, bereaved, wounded, broken and weary is not only gracious and graceful, but CONTAGIOUS and MEMORABLE. Show some humane of love and cares today to someone in NEED – This is Scripturally called “PURE RELIGION” indeed.

Be Blessed in GRACE and LIFE as you show some LOVE and CARE today in Christ Jesus stead. Amen.

MARANATHA! – The Lord Christ Jesus Is Coming – 1 Corinthians 16:22.

Be a DIFFERENCE – Be a HISTORY MAKER to someone else today in Christ Jesus stead. Give colour to your words in another.

“BEAR YE ONE ANOTHER’S BURDENS, and so fulfil the law of Christ . . . 9 AND LET US NOT BE WEARY IN WELL DOING: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore OPPORTUNITY, let us DO GOOD unto all men, ESPECIALLY UNTO THEM WHO ARE OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH” Galatians 6:3, 9-10.

God’s Child – KEEP AWAY FROM IDOLS – And Their Such Like Activities!

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may KNOW him that is true, and we ARE in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 21 Little children, KEEP YOURSELVES FROM IDOLS. Amen” 1 John 5:20-21.

“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an IDOLATER, hath any INHERITANCE in the kingdom of Christ and of God” Ephesians 5:5.

“Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say . . . 18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What say I then? THAT THE IDOL IS ANY THING, OR THAT WHICH IS OFFERED IN SACRIFICE TO IDOLS IS ANY THING? 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, THEY SACRIFICE TO DEVILS, AND NOT TO GOD: and I would not that ye should have FELLOWSHIP WITH DEVILS. 21 Ye cannot DRINK THE CUP of the Lord, and THE CUP of devils: ye cannot be PARTAKERS of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 23 ALL THINGS ARE LAWFUL FOR ME, BUT ALL THINGS ARE NOT EXPEDIENT: ALL THINGS ARE LAWFUL FOR ME, BUT ALL THINGS EDIFY NOT. 24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth . . . 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 32 GIVE NONE OFFENCE, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God . . .” 1 Corinthians 10:14-33

“Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. 2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him. 4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. 9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. 10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; 11 and through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend” 1 Corinthians 8:1-13.
