THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD RULES: ENSURE YOU ARE LIVING ON THE MERCY OF GOD!\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

“Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of MERCIES, and the God of all comfort”<\/i>\u00a02 Corinthians 1:2-3.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The sovereignty of God over all\u00a0is\u00a0without controversy.\u00a0He\u00a0is\u00a0the one who\u00a0determines\u00a0and defines what was, is,\u00a0and\u00a0is\u00a0to come. As such He created all things for His own pleasure and glory, dominion and power, and He\u00a0is answerable to none. All creation\u00a0bows\u00a0before Him and\u00a0adores\u00a0His majesty.\u00a0He\u00a0is\u00a0indescribable and incomprehensible in all that pertains to doing life – earthly wise\u00a0=\u00a0and living godly – heavenly wise. His SOVEREIGNTY reigns\u00a0through all\u00a0generations and dispensations, past and present,\u00a0and holds the world and all that dwells\u00a0therein\u00a0in the palm of His hands. At His presence Kingdoms\u00a0shake,\u00a0governments stand still,\u00a0and people and\u00a0all\u00a0other creation tremble. Words are not enough to qualify and quantify\u00a0Him,\u00a0but we can sum Him up by looking through the face of Christ Jesus, our Saviour and Lord.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive GLORY and HONOUR and POWER: for thou hast CREATED ALL THINGS, and for THY PLEASURE they ARE and WERE created”<\/i>\u00a0Revelation 4:11.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Being sovereign makes God say\u00a0to Moses,\u00a0\u201cI will have mercy on whom I choose to have mercy\u201d\u00a0irrespective of what anyone\u00a0thinks, imagines,\u00a0or\u00a0expects\u00a0of Him. He chose Moses, who stammered,\u00a0instead of Aaron his eloquent-speaking brother,\u00a0to LEAD His people out of Egypt toward the promised land. Sometimes,\u00a0in human sense,\u00a0it seems God\u00a0is\u00a0partial and unfair in His dealings with us, but that\u00a0is\u00a0what MAKES Him SOVEREIGN.\u00a0Because what He sees and knows and understands\u00a0that\u00a0makes\u00a0Him take certain decisions\u00a0is\u00a0beyond our infinitesimal imagination and thoughts. For His ways are not our ways. Hence, to imagine God saying I\u00a0\u201cchose Jacob instead of Esau\u201d,\u00a0Joseph instead of other eleven children of Jacob\u201d,\u00a0and\u00a0Manasseh instead of Ephraim\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0to choose\u00a0Apostle Paul\u00a0– a\u00a0Chief\u00a0of\u00a0Sinners\u00a0as he called himself\u00a0–\u00a0to preach the New Creation Gospel, tells\u00a0us\u00a0a lot\u00a0about\u00a0God’s sovereignty in human affairs and\u00a0in\u00a0all\u00a0of\u00a0His creation. And in all, He\u00a0remains\u00a0the just,\u00a0good,\u00a0faithful,\u00a0true\u00a0and sure Father God in His sovereignty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever imagined\u00a0going through life, and\u00a0the\u00a0people you considered\u00a0to\u00a0have\u00a0no ground of existence are still here,\u00a0while\u00a0those you considered to have a ground are no more? Think of any scenario in human affairs\u00a0– sometimes\u00a0you wonder why certain things happen to certain people and not others,\u00a0according\u00a0to\u00a0your own\u00a0perception\u00a0of things.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Does it mean that God hates some and loves some? And that God is an unrighteous judge in His sovereign decision? But\u00a0that\u00a0is\u00a0not the case at all with God, beyond\u00a0our human\u00a0perception\u00a0and limitations of His SOVEREIGNTY in our earthly affairs and heavenly affairs.\u00a0There\u00a0is\u00a0an\u00a0operating default in God’s sovereignty over all,\u00a0and\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0called MERCY – THE MERCY OF GOD. The MERCY OF GOD is that default in Him that enables divine kindness\u00a0to\u00a0offset\u00a0divine judgment for obvious and\u00a0non-obvious\u00a0faults and mistakes in\u00a0our earthly and heavenly affairs. It is the MERCY of God that enables one to do life beyond the ordinary and human comprehension. Through the course of time, in the phases of the divine PURPOSE\u00a0for\u00a0our lives, we FRAIL human\u00a0beings – just\u00a0as the Psalmist\u00a0declared\u00a0that the Lord knows our\u00a0FRAME, that we are dust –\u00a0it is\u00a0only by\u00a0living under the cover of His MERCY that we can keep on keeping on,\u00a0as it\u00a0is written:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Just as a father LOVES his children, So the Lord LOVES those who FEAR and WORSHIP Him [with AWE-FILLED RESPECT and DEEPEST REVERENCE]. 14 For He KNOWS our [MORTAL] FRAME; He remembers that we are [merely] dust”<\/i>\u00a0Psalms 103:13-14 AMPLIFIED.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apostle Paul, considering\u00a0the\u00a0havoc\u00a0he\u00a0caused\u00a0to the Church of God and others, knew God’s MERCY so well in his course of doing life and living godly in Christ Jesus. That\u00a0knowledge\u00a0enabled\u00a0him not to FAINT,\u00a0but to explore God’s MERCY tremendously,\u00a0in order to\u00a0live a fulfilled LIFE and GODLINESS in his ministry,\u00a0as written:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore\u00a0SEEING we have this MINISTRY, as we have RECEIVED MERCY, WE FAINT NOT\u201d\u00a0<\/i>2 Corinthians 4:1.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

YOU NEED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY YOU HAVE\u00a0EACH DAY\u00a0TO HIDE AND LIVE YOUR LIFE\u00a0UNDER\u00a0THE MERCY OF GOD. For God is sovereign and decides the times and terms of life for all, irrespective of status, religion,\u00a0gender, colour,\u00a0tongue.\u00a0and such like.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, enough of that pride and arrogancy and misplaced priority and stubbornness and such\u00a0like, because\u00a0life is as a mist that appears in the new dawn and straight away\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0gone. Make every opportunity you have to count and account for you in doing life in earthly affairs and living godly in heavenly affairs in Christ Jesus stead. Amen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Go to now, ye that say,\u00a0To\u00a0day or\u00a0to morrow\u00a0we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 WHEREAS YE KNOW NOT WHAT SHALL BE ON THE MORROW. FOR WHAT IS YOUR LIFE? IT IS EVEN A VAPOUR, THAT APPEARETH FOR A LITTLE TIME, AND THEN VANISHETH AWAY. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17 Therefore to him that\u00a0knoweth\u00a0to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin”<\/i>\u00a0John 4:13-17.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just know:\u00a0It\u00a0is only the knowing and understanding that you are LIVING\u00a0UNDER\u00a0THE MERCY OF GOD that\u00a0enables\u00a0you\u00a0to\u00a0keep on keeping on,\u00a0even in the Face of FAINTING, TRIBULATIONS, TRIALS, OPPOSITION, DISAPPOINTMENT, SICKNESSES AND DISEASES, FAMILY BREAKDOWN, MARITAL STRUGGLE, FRUSTRATIONS IN SINGLENESS, CHILDLESSNESS,\u00a0AND MANY MORE SUCH LIKE MALADIES OF LIFE.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, I call on you to let GOD’S MERCY speak for you in that life challenge, just\u00a0as the two blind men experienced of God\u2019s mercy\u00a0in\u00a0Matthew 9:27-31.<\/b>\u00a0They explored\u00a0the sovereign default\u00a0– THE\u00a0MERCY\u00a0OF GOD\u00a0– and\u00a0that interjection\u00a0through the\u00a0act of\u00a0PRAYER spoke\u00a0into their situation and changed\u00a0their life storyline forever,\u00a0in their\u00a0earthly affairs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It could be your time now. Act accordingly for your BLESSEDNESS in Christ Jesus stead. Amen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SELAH – PAUSE AND THINK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“. . . 14 What shall we say then? Is there UNRIGHTEOUSNESS with God? GOD FORBID. 15 For he saith to Moses, I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I WILL HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I WILL HAVE COMPASSION. 16 SO THEN IT IS NOT OF HIM THAT WILLETH, NOR OF HIM THAT RUNNETH, BUT OF GOD THAT SHEWETH MERCY. 17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh,\u00a0Even\u00a0for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he\u00a0hardeneth\u00a0. . . 23 and that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 even us, whom he hath CALLED, NOT OF THE JEWS ONLY, BUT ALSO OF THE\u00a0GENTILES? 25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them MY PEOPLE, which were NOT MY PEOPLE; and HER BELOVED, which was NOT BELOVED . . .”\u00a0<\/i>Romans 9:1-33.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, HAVE MERCY ON US. 28 And when he\u00a0was come\u00a0into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe Ye That I Am Able\u00a0To\u00a0Do This? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH BE IT UNTO YOU. 30 And their EYES WERE OPENED; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying,\u00a0See\u00a0that no man know it. 31 But they, when they were\u00a0departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country”<\/i>\u00a0Matthew 9:27-31.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Therefore\u00a0seeing we have this ministry, AS WE HAVE RECEIVED MERCY, WE FAINT NOT; 2 but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man\u2019s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel\u00a0be\u00a0hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus\u2019 sake. 6 FOR GOD, WHO COMMANDED THE LIGHT TO SHINE OUT OF DARKNESS, HATH SHINED IN OUR HEARTS, TO GIVE THE LIGHT OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD IN THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST. 7 But we have this TREASURE in EARTHEN VESSELS, that the EXCELLENCY of the POWER may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every\u00a0side, yet\u00a0not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live are\u00a0alway\u00a0delivered unto death for Jesus\u2019 sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you. 13 We\u00a0having\u00a0the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also\u00a0believe, and\u00a0therefore speak; 14 knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which\u00a0cause\u00a0we faint not; but though our outward man\u00a0perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, WORKETH for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are SEEN ARE TEMPORAL; but the things which are NOT SEEN ARE ETERNAL”<\/i>\u00a02 Corinthians 4:1-18.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The message opens with\u00a02 Corinthians 1:2-3:<\/b>\u00a0\u201cGrace be to you and peace from God our Father\u2026 the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>
Core charge:\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The sovereignty of God rules: ensure you are living under the mercy of God.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
Sovereignty is without controversy. God alone\u00a0determines\u00a0and defines what was, is, and is to come. He created all things for His pleasure, glory,\u00a0dominion\u00a0and power\u00a0[Revelation 4:11<\/b>], and is answerable to none. All creation bows and trembles at His presence. He is indescribable and incomprehensible in earthly and heavenly affairs, summed up only in\u00a0Christ Jesus, our Saviour and Lord.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

KEY POINTS<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Sovereignty in divine choice\u00a0plus\u00a0mercy<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
    God\u2019s sovereignty is seen in His choices:\u00a0\u201cI will have mercy on whom I will have mercy\u201d\u00a0[Exodus 33:19;\u00a0Romans 9:15]<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span>
    He chose\u00a0Moses\u00a0the stammerer over eloquent\u00a0Aaron<\/b>\u00a0to lead Israel out of\u00a0Egypt\u00a0<\/b>to the\u00a0Promised Land<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span>
    He chose\u00a0Jacob instead of Esau<\/b>\u00a0[Romans 9:13]<\/b>,\u00a0Joseph<\/b>\u00a0over 11 brothers,\u00a0Manasseh over Ephraim<\/b>, and\u00a0Apostle Paul \u2014 a chief of sinners\u00a0[1 Timothy 1:15]<\/b>\u00a0to preach the new creation gospel.\u00a0<\/span>
    To human sense this looks unfair, but that is what makes Him sovereign. His ways are not our ways\u00a0[Isaiah 55:8-9]<\/b>. Yet He\u00a0remains\u00a0just, good, faithful,\u00a0true\u00a0and\u00a0sure\u00a0Father God.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. God\u2019s operating default: mercy<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
    We often wonder why some with \u201cno ground\u201d remain while others with \u201cground\u201d are gone. But God\u2019s operating default is\u00a0mercy \u2014 the mercy of God.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
    Mercy is divine kindness that offsets divine judgment for faults in earthly and heavenly affairs. It enables one to do life beyond the ordinary.\u00a0<\/span>
    Psalm 103:13-14<\/b>:\u00a0\u201cFor He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>
    So we keep on keeping on only by living under the cover of His mercy. <\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Paul\u2019s pattern: received mercy \u2192 faint not<\/b>
    <\/span>Apostle Paul,<\/b>\u00a0who caused havoc to the\u00a0<\/span>church of God,<\/b>\u00a0knew\u00a0<\/span>God\u2019s mercy<\/b>. That knowledge enabled him not to faint but to live a fulfilled life and godliness in ministry.<\/span>
    <\/span>2 Corinthians 4:1, 16:\u00a0<\/b>\u201cAs we have received mercy, we faint not\u2026 though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.\u201d<\/span>
    <\/span>We have treasure in earthen\u00a0vessels,\u00a0so the excellency of power is of God. Light affliction works for us an eternal weight of glory as we look at things not seen = eternal\u00a0[2 Corinthians 4:17-18].<\/b> <\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Urgency: life is a mist<\/b>
    <\/span>You need to take advantage of every opportunity each day to hide and live your life under the mercy of God<\/b>.\u00a0God decides times and terms for all, irrespective of status, religion, gender, colour, tongue.<\/span>
    <\/span>Enough of pride, arrogancy, misplaced priority, stubbornness \u2014 because\u00a0life is a mist\/vapour\u00a0<\/b>that appears and vanishes<\/span>\u00a0[James 4:14].<\/b>
    <\/span>Make every opportunity count in earthly affairs and living godly in heavenly affairs in Christ Jesus.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Mercy sustains every malady<\/b>
    <\/span>It is only knowing and understanding that you are living under the mercy of God that enables you to keep on keeping on in the face\u00a0of\u00a0fainting, tribulations, trials, opposition, disappointment, sicknesses and diseases, family breakdown, marital struggle, frustrations in singleness, childlessness, and maladies of life. <\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Altar call: it could be your time<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
    Today I call on you<\/b>: Let\u00a0God\u2019s mercy<\/b>\u00a0speak for you in that life challenge, just as the\u00a0two blind men<\/b>\u00a0in\u00a0Matthew 9:27-31\u00a0<\/b>cried\u00a0\u201cHave mercy on us\u201d. Their interjection through prayer spoke into their situation and changed their life storyline forever.\u00a0<\/span>
    Romans 9:16:<\/b>\u00a0\u201cSo then it is not of him that\u00a0willeth\u2026 but of God that\u00a0sheweth\u00a0mercy.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
