Marriage – A Great Mystery!

July 14, 2012 By Pastor Chukie Leave a Comment

LOVE AND SUBMISSION MAKES MARRIAGE A GREAT MYSTERY

“Marrying someone you love and loving  (being faithful and trustworthy to) the person you marry is the beauty of true and intimate manhood”.

“Marrying someone you can submit to and submitting (in excellent spirit) to the person you marry is the virtue of true womanhood”.

“Many a man proclaims his own loyalty and goodness, But who can find a faithful and trustworthy man?” Proverbs 20:6 (Amplified).

“An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her? Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls “Proverbs 31:10 (Amplified).

“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband” Ephesians 5:21-33 (KJV).

“In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands [subordinate, not as inferior, but out of respect for the responsibilities entrusted to husbands and their accountability to God, and so partnering with them] so that even if some do not obey the word [of God], they may be won over [to Christ] without discussion by the godly lives of their wives, 2 when they see your modest and respectful behavior [together with your devotion and appreciation—love your husband, encourage him, and enjoy him as a blessing from God]. 3 Your adornment must not be merely external—with interweaving and elaborate knotting of the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or [being superficially preoccupied with] dressing in expensive clothes; 4 but let it be [the inner beauty of] the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, [one that is calm and self-controlled, not overanxious, but serene and spiritually mature] which is very precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this way in former times the holy women, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands and adapting themselves to them; 6 just as Sarah obeyed Abraham [following him and having regard for him as head of their house], calling him lord. And you have become her daughters if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear [that is, being respectful toward your husband but not giving in to intimidation, nor allowing yourself to be led into sin, nor to be harmed]. 7 In the same way, you husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way [with great gentleness and tact, and with an intelligent regard for the marriage relationship], as with someone physically weaker, since she is a woman. Show her honor and respect as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered or ineffective. 8 Finally, all of you be like-minded [united in spirit], sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted [courteous and compassionate toward each other as members of one household], and humble in spirit; 9 and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being, happiness, and protection]. 10 For, “The one who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good—whether apparent or not], Must keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from speaking guile (treachery, deceit). 11 “He must turn away from wickedness and do what is right. He must search for peace [with God, with self, with others] and pursue it eagerly [actively—not merely desiring it]. 12  “For the eyes of the Lord are [looking favorably] upon the righteous (the upright), And His ears are attentive to their prayer (eager to answer), But the face of the Lord is against those who practice evil” 1 Peter 3:1-12 (Amplified).

Marital Affairs Food For Thought

October 21, 2011 By Pastor Chukie Leave a Comment

Success in Marriage is more than finding the right person, its being the right person. Success in marriage is a determination to be married for the good and the best. Success in marriage involves falling in love many times and always with the same person.

BECOMING WHOM & WHAT YOU BELIEVE

December 31, 2009 By Pastor Chukie Leave a Comment

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.“

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 10:30, 34-35 “I and my Father are one . . . Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If He called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken“

Psalms 82:6 “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are the children of the most High “

Genesis 26:12-14 “. . . And the man Became great, and went forward, and grew until he Became very great . . .“

The Act of Believing is made available to all mankind. It is an integral default in men. Man’s existence today has a lot to do with whom and what He believes in. Whom and What you believe in determines how your destiny is being shaped and moulded. It’s for this cause people of all races, nations, genders and generations are in one conflict or the other, either on personal levels or general levels. God wants us to exercise Faith in whatsoever we Believe Him for. Believing God is a characteristic of Faithfulness, but exercising Faith on what you believe Him for, it is your human spirit responding on your belief on the word of God. That is, your human spirit acting on the word of God.

FAITH: Is acting on the Belief

BELIEVE: Is the characteristics of Faithfulness

Faith must be acted. God’s blessings upon your life depend on your Faith. Fear is a demon spirit and is the opposite of faith and the devil’s instrument to paralyse your Faith in God.

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

By Faith, you become whom and what you Believe. Abraham believed God and it was counted or reckoned unto him for righteousness, he became what he believed of himself in God. Faith is the seeing eye of the act of Believing – Galatians 3:6-9 (Romans 4:17-25). The two blind men believed the Word of Christ, they become (had) what they believed in Faith for – Matthew 9:29 (27-31). The act to believe and exercise faith is spiritual – Take time to Think or Ponder or Meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8).

Achieving Life Successes through Faithfulness

Luke 18:1-8 “. . . And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”

Luke 16:1-13 “. . . He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”.

As we turn into the eighth month of the year, I call to remembrance that God made all things in six days – on the seventh – He rested and on the eighth day, the empowered man with dominion mandate began to function in achieving the reason for His creation.

Today we live in an age where faithfulness to ourselves and to others is in great demand for creating an atmosphere that we can enjoy. Unfortunately we are so eager to demand faithfulness from others while we may not be faithful ourselves even in the least of things.

Hence I am grateful to the Holy Spirit that this month He has constrained me to challenge us on the need of achieving life goals through faithfulness. Hence the reason to set tasks and targets for oneself in making it be.

We need to know that our God is a faithful God. This is just one basic nature of God – FAITHFULNESS. We being His children cannot afford to live in any other way and expect to achieve greatness in life.

The Results of Being Faithful

Great admirable marriages, homes & businesses are not achieved merely from structural design but from faithful human hearts. The results of being faithful are the prosperity and good success that we all desire. When we make faithfulness an avenue of achieving life’s goals, we promote honesty, decency and healthy lifestyles.

In the scripture quoted at the beginning, Luke 18:7-8, Jesus asked a question about faithfulness. The word FAITH is translated ‘pistil’ in Greek, which denotes faithfulness in English. Jesus wondered how many would be faithful – to trust God and wait upon His Word – without seeking alternative solutions to life’s challenges. The 2nd main text, Luke 16:1-13, shows the reason that many of us cannot achieve our goals. It is because we are not faithful in matters entrusted into our hands by others.

God’s Faithful Nature

In achieving life’s goals, it would be great for you to look at the nature of God regarding faithfulness.

  1. God is faithful to Himself. 2Tim 2:13
  2. God is faithful to His Word and promises. Heb 10:23
  3. God is faithful to His relationship. 1 Corinth 1:9
  4. God is faithful to forgive. 1 John 1:9
  5. God is faithful in agreement. Deut 7:9
  6. God is faithful to establish and deliver. 1 Cor 10:13, 2 Thess 3:3
  7. God is faithful to accomplish His part in the assignment that he gives to us. 1 Thess 5:24
  8. God is a faithful creator. 1 Peter 4 4:19 . . . and many more of our God.

Know full well that we are the offspring of God, the sheep of His pasture. Acts 17:28-29, Psalms 100:3. It then means that we can live a faithful life and achieve good successes. The other reason that we can achieve success is because we are the seed of Abraham – who was faithful and prospered. The same grace is available to us today in spite of our challenges to be faithful and to prosper. Galatians 3:6-9, 13-14, 26-29. (See Genesis 13:2, 24:1)

Faithfulness Applied

  1. A faithful employee – Whatever position you hold, God requires you to be faithful. Matt 24:45-51, Ephesians 6:5-8, 1 Peter 2;18-20, Col 3:22-25
  2. A faithful employer – look after your staff well whatever the business. Ephesians 6:6-9, Col 4:1, Prov 11:24-26, Deut 10:17-18, Acts 10:34-35, Romans 2:11
  3. Faithful in your relationships. This is a vital ingredient in enhancing a healthy society.
  • Faithfulness in the kingdom business. As a minister, pastor, ministry worker etc, you cannot afford to attend to ministry work in the way that pleases you and at the same time want God’s backing. No adulterations of any sort will make God be a part of it. Faithfulness to God’s Word and commands is a prerequisite to achieving desired goals. 1 Cor 4:2, 2 Tim 2:1-2, Prov 27:23, John 21:15-17 (Numbers 12:7, Heb 3:2,5.)
  • In marriage one cannot afford to be unfaithful and achieve with God. (1 Tim 3:11, Prov 31:10, Prov 20:6, Eph 5:21-33, 1 Peter 3:1-12).
  • Faithfulness is also vital in a parent – child relationship. Eph 6:1-4, Col 3:20-21, Prov 22:6
  • Faithfulness in friendships. Prov 27:6,10, Prov 17:17, Prov 18:24

Faithfulness Rewards

  1. Abound with blessings. Prov 28:20
  2. Abound with health. Prov 13:17, 2 Cor 5:20
  3. A refresher for others. Prov 25:13
  4. There will be increase and promotion. Matt 25:21,23
  5. There will be eternal reward. Matt 25:21b, 23b

Finally, as one with an achievers’ mandate, I beckon on you to set task and target this month on how to walk in faithfulness if you want to partner with God. I pray you be found faithful in every area of your life through this month and thereafter.

Manifesting  An “Effectual FAITH Life” Diligently

Philemon 3-6 ‘’Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ; I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; That the communication (Sharing or Fellowship) of thy Faith may become EFFECTUAL by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus’’.

Luke 18: 1-8 ‘’ And he (Jesus) spake a parable unto them to this end, that Men ought always to Pray, and not to FAINT; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;  Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find FAITH on the earth? (See also 1Samuel 30)

Provebs. 22:29 ‘’Seest thou a Man DILIGENT in his business? He shall stand before Kings; he shall not STAND before MEAN men.

Hebrews 11:6 ‘’but without FAITH it is impossible to PLEASE him: for him that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him

Here in Britain, our financial year begins this month of April. While to many it is April Fools, to the Diligent in life, it is April Wise. The wise in Christ must know that Anointing without money can become Annoyance, and in some cases a complete frustration in our Faith Lifestyle when facing the global financial famine and challenges of this generation.

A lot of diligent decisions which can make you have an Effectual Faith Lifestyle or a Fainting Lifestyle come by this Month of APRIL. That is the reason that our Lord Jesus in Luke 18: 1-8 was concerned about the faint–hearted believers. This is because He has paid the necessary price to enable our communication or fellowship of Faith lifestyle to be EFFECTUAL. To be Effectual means that our FAITH/FAITHFULNESS in Christ is producing, generating and achieving all our intended and desired results.

We are Born Again to reign in life for a CAUSE or PURPOSE, not to Faint nor Give up in our Faith lifestyle. Hence Philemon 6 reminds us that an Effectual lifestyle is the acknowledging of every good work which is in you in Christ Jesus. There is a good work wrought by the Lord in you. For we are God’s workmanship; Ephesians 2:10 ‘’For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

In the same manner, we are strongly counselled in Proverbs 3: 5-6 ‘’Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Not to lean on our own understanding but to acknowledge God in all our ways. It is very important for every believer intending to have a long lasting effectual Christian life that will do others good, to have this understanding that not having our intended desire come to pass may be due to not acknowledging that is of God and not of ourselves. This will stop selfishness and self-centeredness to the opportunity God has given us to bless or communicate or share or fellowship our FAITH with others EFFECTUALLY. For by flesh shall no man prevail or become Effectual in the kingdom faith lifestyle. 1Sam.2:9b ’’ . . . for by strength shall no man prevail’’; Zechariah 4:6b ‘’. . .  Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the LORD of hosts. ).

Finally – an Effectual Faith Lifestyle is not about what you can do for God but about what you can allow God to do through you to the glory of our risen Lord and the blessing of mankind. It is not about how INTELLIGENT one is but about the Lord’s GRACE allowed to work in all of our life. BE WISE!

Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 ‘’ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them’’.

Romans 9:16 ‘’ So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.

2Corinthians 3:5 ‘’Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God’’

I pray this month of APRIL that your FAITH/FAITHFULNESS will be EFFECTUAL in all you lay your hands to do. Be blessed as you DIGEST.
