Where did the desire to desire what you desire come from?
Picture this: What I would love for my daughter to be is a pianist.
I want her to want that for herself. I make available whatever I can for facilitate this, opportunities, pay for lessons, take her to concerts – whatever I believe it takes. I force nothing and would want her to do it out of her own free Will.
As time goes on – she gets serious about being a pianist, she loves it and wants to go as far as she can with it. I’m delighted for her, I love it for her. She has chosen a path that I would have loved for her.
Reading Psalms 37:4 got me to this – “Delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”
As much as I’d seen it as that the Lord will give me that which I desire – I saw that the desires that I have – come from Him when I delight in Him, when I seek His face, when I have a relationship with Him, knowing that He lives in me. What I desire is what He desires and when I come to Him and ask for those desires to be fulfilled- He willingly does at the right time because that is exactly what He desires for me.
Just as the Lord desires that we desire the Word of God, desire to seek first His Kingdom, desire to know Him, desire to be vessels for His use – he delights in that and He fulfils those desires as we delight in Him with our whole heart.
So the desires that I have come from the Lord and the Lord gives me the desires of my heart as I delight in Him.
Lord may I always delight in walking with you, in being in your presence.
